Jesus Came to Fulfill the Law of the Prophets

Jesus Came to Fulfill the Law of the Prophets in the Old Testament
Matthew 5:17 presents a chief purpose of Jesus's earthly ministry: to fulfill the law and the prophets. Jesus came to accomplish all that the Old Testament foretold and to complete all the righteousness the Old Testament required.

Jesus Internalized the Laws of the OT
Jesus kept the entire 613 laws of the Old Testament when He was a man on Earth. When He died this knowledge of the OT was inside of Him, he had internalized it, so when a Christian follows Jesus and is "in Jesus" that Christian also will have the laws of the Old Testament internalized at that time.

Both the Old Testament Laws and the New Testament Laws Matter
It is impossible for a human being to internalize or live by all 613 laws of the Old Testament and that is why Jesus Christ did this for His Followers. Jesus' blood is as pure as the blood of an innocent animal but much more powerful of course. What the Old Testament was saying is "The power is in the blood and instead of the blood of animals, we now have Jesus Christ, the lamb of God, who gave His blood to wash away the sins of repentant mankind."

Every time a person of God sinned in the OT times, they had to kill a lamb but that is not necessary now because of Jesus. But what Jesus is saying is that in the OT they didn't have Jesus' blood yet and that is why the animal sacrifice was necessary. The animal sacrifice mattered then but now we have Jesus and animal sacrifice is no longer needed. I guess what this means is that the "power is in the

Why the OT Matters
First of all, it was Abraham and his descendants in the OT who had to follow the law and it was very difficult to follow all of them. One of the laws was the "sacrifice of animals for their sins."

Amen (Matthew 28:18-20). There is great power in the divine blood of Jesus. All too often, the real value of the divine blood of Jesus has been ignored by the Christian world; but man's greatest connection to God is through the divine blood."

The OT and the NT
By combining the OT Laws with the NT laws both were united with each other showing that it took the righteousness of Abraham, his descendants, and King David to make sure Jesus Christ could come into the world. Now we know that the OT laws can only be accomplished within a Christian today through Jesus Christ who had internalized it for us because God knows it is impossible to keep all 613 laws in today's world but we won't have to worry about it since they are inside of us as long as we are "in Christ."

Jesus wanted to unite the OT with the NT by internalizing the OT for us. Let's not forget that, and this is the biggest example, the promises given to Abraham by God are definitely true today in our modern day.
