Dealing with Catholicism in My Childhood (1960-1978) My name is Marina and I was born catholic but my grandmother and father didn't like Catholicism. My father was Italian and my mother was German. My grandmother pointed out the dead babies that priests and nuns produced and there supposedly are cemeteries about that. My father always said out loud, "I am glad the Pope is dead" whenever one died. Did you know Vatican City is the tiniest state in the world? It is independent from Rome, which is Italy. It is this way because Mussolini declared it that way. The World's Religious System So this also means that Rome is a world religious system (general) and not an Italian one. My parents never went to Church but they did send me to that First Communion in a white dress, etc. but did nothing else and they were busy making money in a German restaurant.
